PERMANENT RESIDENCY FEES
& REQUIREMENTS
(distinguishable
from a Residence Permit which lasts for 1 to 3 years)

following fee schedule is provided courtesy of Dempsey & Company for
general informational purposes only. While effort has been made to
verify the accuracy of the information there are ambiguities in the
Regulations with the result that the corresponding fees in certain
categories may not be accurate. Furthermore the Immigration Regulations
are subject to change from time to time and persons considering an
application should therefore seek specific advices in each case.

Government fees:
-
non refundable application fee of
US$100.00, and
-
(a) US$50,000 if
self-employed;
(b) US$30,000 if skilled worker;
(c) US$5,000 if unskilled;
(d) US$15,000 if in the retirement category (without right to work)
Pre-requisites to application for PRC:
The Immigration Regulations were amended
again on July 5th 2002. For the most part, the ability to apply
for permanent residence is dependent upon:
-
Holding a work permits for five
consecutive years; or
-
Making an investment in the islands; or
-
A combination of (a) and (b) above.
The recent amendment to the Regulations
allows for persons to receive PRC's where they would otherwise fail to
qualify but where such person "has become assimilated into the life and
affairs of the Islands".
Schedule of Investment Requirements:
Self Employed:
-
Held a TCI work permit as a self-employed
person for not less than 5 years; and
-
Ordinarily resident in TCI for not less
than 5 years; and
-
Invested not less than:-
(a) US$200,000 in a business in Providenciales; or
(b) US$75,000 in a business on any one of Grand Turk, Salt Cay, South
Middle or North Caicos
Skilled Worker:
-
Held a TCI work permit as a skilled
worker for not less than 5 years; and
-
Ordinarily resident in TCI for not less
than 5 years; and
-
Invested not less than:-
(a) US$200,000 in a home or business in Providenciales; or
(b) US$75,000 in a home or business on any one of Grand Turk, Salt
Cay, South Middle or North Caicos.
Unskilled Worker:
-
Held a TCI work permit as
an unskilled worker for not less than 5 years; and
-
Ordinarily resident in TCI
for not less than 5 years; and
-
Invested not less than:-
(a) US$200,000 in a home or business in Providenciales; or
(b) US$75,000 in a home or business on any one of Grand Turk, Salt
Cay, South Middle or North Caicos; or
Held a work permit as an unskilled worker for a period of not less
than 10 years.
Retirement Category (without the right to work):
-
An investment of not less than US$500,000
in a home, business or approved enterprise in Providenciales; or
-
An investment of not less than US$125,000
in a home, business or approved enterprise on any one of Grand
Turk, Salt Cay, South Middle or North Caicos;
-
An investment of US$50,000 in an
authorised investment on any one of Grand Turk, Salt Cay, South Middle
or North Caicos on the strength of an undertaking from the Governor.
Dependent Children of PRC Holders
Can apply for the issuance of a PRC in
their own names on attaining the age of 18 years.
